fh2rail is the team behind the winning locomotive “Carla”, the successor of “Molly” and “Emma” for the IMechE Railway Challenge. The team is grand champion of the railway challenge 2019 and 2022. They currently work hard for their success in 2025.
fh2rail is composed of students from FH Aachen and apprentices from Alpha Trains.
FH Aachen University of Applied Science and Alpha Trains excel in energy efficiency and control of the locomotive. Their novel “Nepomuk” bogie applies pneumatic muscles for radial steering.
